Christmas Paper elf craft idea for kids

Are you looking for an easy and fun Christmas craft idea for kids? Look no further! In this tutorial, we'll show you how to make a delightful rocking elf man using just paper. It's not only a perfect activity for the little ones, but it can also be used as charming Christmas decor. So, let's get started and express our creativity!

Materials Required:

To create this craft, you'll need the following materials:

  • Construction paper (or optional: cardstock for a sturdier result)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Markers or colored pencils

Step 1: Making the Elf Hat

To begin, take a colored paper and cut it into a size of 15×21 cm. Fold the paper in half along the longer side, creating a crease. Then, fold the paper in half again, making another crease.

Next, fold the top right edge towards the center crease, making a crease. Repeat the same step with the top left edge. This folding technique is similar to making a traditional paper boat.

Now, fold the paper from the bottom in an upward direction, exactly two times. Apply some glue to the backside of the second fold and stick it to the paper. Turn the paper over and repeat this step.

Congratulations! You've just created the shape of the elf hat.

Step 2: Making the Face of the Elf Man

Now, it's time to make the elf's face. Take a cream-colored paper and place the elf hat on it. Mark three points between the triangular shape of the hat. These points will serve as reference points for drawing a circle.

Using these points, draw a circle with the diameter determined by the distance between the points. Cut out the circle.

Fold the paper from top to bottom, creating a crease. When you partially open the fold and place it on a flat surface, the folded paper should be able to stand on its own.

Insert the folded circle into the elf hat. Decorate the hat by sticking paper hearts or any other shape or material you like.

Now, it's time to draw the eyes and mouth on the elf's face. Additionally, draw the elf's ears on a separate piece of paper and cut them out. Attach the ears to the face.

And voila! Your adorable rocking paper elf man is now ready to spread some holiday cheer!
