A Not-So-Scary Halloween Adventure

Halloween is a thrilling time for preschoolers and kindergartners. It's a chance to dress up, spend time with loved ones, and, of course, enjoy some candy. But let's face it: not all kids are fans of the scary side of Halloween. And that's okay!

Introducing our little Halloween book, featuring adorable bears in simple and non-threatening costumes. This delightful story adds a touch of levity to the holiday and focuses on the fun and excitement rather than the frights.

Let's Get Started

To get your hands on this amazing free printable, simply grab your own copy here. The clip art used in this book is from D.J. Inker's Spook-Tacular Smiles collection, featuring her delightful D.J. Simple font.

Once you've printed the book, it's time to assemble it. Fold each page in half, making sure the pictures and words are facing out. Arrange the pages in order and staple them along the left-hand side. The book cover should read “I See Halloween Costumes,” with “The End” on the back.

A World of Halloween Fun

This Halloween reader is guaranteed to delight your little ones! If they enjoy coloring, print the black-and-white version and let them unleash their creativity. If coloring isn't their thing, the color version works perfectly too.

Start a conversation about Halloween costumes and let the kids share their exciting plans. Then, introduce the book and explore each picture together. Take turns reading the book, encouraging the children to follow along with their fingers. Let them read and reread the book as many times as they like.

Additional Ideas

Looking for more ways to engage with the book? Try these activities:

  • Write the book's sentences on separate paper strips, cut them up, and have the children reassemble them with the help of the book.
  • Create sentence strips with the words and add them to a pocket chart. Cut out the pictures separately and place them in the pocket chart too. Let the children match the correct pictures to the sentences.
  • Make a class book based on what the children plan to be for Halloween, using the same “I see a…” sentence structure.
