Step 1: Preliminary Fold in Origami
To begin, take a square paper (15 cm in size works well for this project). Fold the paper diagonally from right to left, making a crease. Then, unfold the paper. Next, fold it diagonally from left to right and make another crease. Unfold the paper again.
Step 2: Collapsing the Paper
Now it's time to collapse the paper into a square shape. Begin by folding the paper horizontally from bottom to top, and then unfold it. Fold the paper vertically from right to left, and unfold it once more.
Step 3: Completing the Preliminary Fold
To complete the preliminary fold, carefully follow these steps. With the paper facing you, fold it horizontally (only halfway through) by pinching the paper on its base at the edges. Next, push the right and left edges towards each other. You will notice two flaps of paper taking shape – one towards you and another in the back.
Step 4: Folding the Flaps
Turn the back flap towards the right and the front flap towards the left. After folding the flaps to alternate sides, you will achieve a new shape.
Step 5: Folding the Edges
Place the paper model down and fold the right edge towards the center, making a crease. Repeat this step with the left edge. Then, fold the top corner towards the center. Remember to fold only the piece of paper in the front.
Step 6: Repeat the Process
Repeat steps 5 and 6 on the other side as well. Flip the paper model over and fold the right, left, and top edges toward the center.
Step 7: Shaping the Vase
Now, let's shape our paper vase. Start by carefully opening the right paper flap and turning it over to the left side. Fold the top right edge towards the center so that the corner meets in the middle. Repeat this with the top left corner.
Step 8: Finishing Touches
Turn the paper model over and fold the triangular-shaped corner towards you. Then, fold it backward. At this point, you should see the shape of the paper vase taking form. To refine the shape, gently push the walls of the paper vase outward. You can also blow into the vase to shape the base. If desired, you can use a small amount of glue to secure any loose triangular shapes, giving the vase a neater appearance.
And there you have it! Your origami paper vase is now complete and ready to be showcased. You can add a touch of charm by placing paper roses or any other paper flowers into the vase. For smaller roses, try using a square paper measuring 10 cm.
